Faculty & Staff
At Sonrise Academy, our experienced, all-volunteer staff believe that early childhood education is vitally important. Our love for Jesus is at the heart of our commitment to our students.
Meet the Teachers
I am originally from Manheim, Pennsylvania and graduated from Manheim Central High school in 1997 and then from Shippensburg University in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a minor in history. I have been married to my college sweetheart Chad, since 2003. We have two beautiful daughters, Alexandria and Addison.
I have lived in Lebanon County since 2005 when my husband and I moved here so that he could take a job as a State Farm Agent. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I worked as a kindergarten teacher in Lancaster and Berks Counties. In addition to teaching at Sonrise Academy, I also homeschool our daughters. It is such a joy to be able to spend the day with my girls as we learn together!
My husband and I are avid cyclists and we enjoy going on rides together and also riding with our two girls. I love to read and I’m always thankful for a few quiet moments to enjoy a good book. My favorite place to be is on the beach. I love to be outside and especially in the sun.
My favorite things about Sonrise are of course the students! I enjoy getting to know new students and their families each year and being able to share the love of Jesus.
I grew up here in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Houghton College in 1999 with degrees in both Educational Ministries and Bible, as well as a minor in music. My husband and I met while working at Lebanon Valley Youth For Christ, where I oversaw the children’s program and he ran the senior high ministry. We married in 2007 and I stopped working in 2009 to become mom to Reed, and later to our second son, Quinn.
In 2013 we moved to Myerstown, and we love walking to the playground and visiting the nearby library. We also enjoy yard-saling together and going for family bike rides, as well as visiting grandparents and cousins. I teach private piano, guitar and voice lessons out of our home, a hobby I began back in 2003. I enjoy reading, writing, baking, jogging, and having a cup of coffee in the morning outside on our porch.
I began volunteering with Sonrise in 2009 and love seeing the different personalities of each student who enters our doors. God has truly made us all unique, and I love the challenge of working with each child and seeing the special qualities He has instilled in them.
